About DISC
As a leading northern charity established in 1986, we work with disadvantaged client groups, we understand the challenges commissioners face in achieving a balance between delivering services which meet the needs of vulnerable groups with complex needs, whist achieving value for money.
We work in partnership with commissioners, local authorities and other providers to; identify needs; continually improve provision; achieve positive and sustainable outcomes for service users; provide long term social impact; and minimize costs.
We have a highly regarded reputation for successfully engaging with service users, where other organizations have previously failed. We believe that this is due to our strong commitment to placing the service user are the very heart of each and every service we provide.
We strive to provide high quality services, which represent value for money by ensuring that we maximize resource at the front line and continually introduce elements of additional value. Our ability to undertake projects and transform outcome performance is well established.
One of DISC’s key strengths is our willingness and passion to pioneer innovative approaches to tackling disadvantage and social exclusion. By working in this way for over 26 years, we have continually evolved our services and gained a vast amount of experience and knowledge.
In short; we know what works.
A key element of our success to date is our ability to tie together our diverse range of provision. We currently deliver specialist services across the following key areas;
- Criminal Justice
- Drugs and Alcohol
- Housing Support
- Learning & Employment
- Young Peoples Services
- Family Services
- Disability Services
- Health
This enables us to take a truly holistic approach to each service user’s support package and ensures that we identify, assess and meet all client needs; regardless of their complexity.
By working together, we can help vulnerable and disadvantaged people to get the support they need and reach their full potential in life.
74% of our service users would welcome financial advice and support on how to open and run a bank account, manage their money and budget.
We provide practical financial advice to people who might otherwise be in danger of losing their homes or missing payments, helping them to better understand their finances and how to manage them.
