The Children, Young People and Families Service Delivery Unit within DISC has as its main focus, support for particularly vulnerable groups in the community. The unit operates a diverse range of services at locations across the North East including:-

Domestic Violence
DISC operates a specific project supporting young people who are or have been affected by domestic violence as part of young carers.

Young Carers
This project provides advocacy, guidance and one-to-one support to young carers who are caring for members of their family and other relatives who are ill, have a disability or are suffering from an addiction.

Substance Misusers
A Peer Led Drug Education Programme (Tier 2) and an Advice and Support Programme (Tier3).

Learning Disabilities
DISC operates a number of community based services for people with learning disabilities which encourage personal development and accredited skills gained through Oxford Cambridge and RSA Examinations(OCR) as well as a peer friendship scheme.

Young Parents
DISC's young parenting programme works with very young parents to support their transition to adulthood as a parent and gaining the skills and accredited training to improve their own lifestyles. Finally, where appropriate, to enter the labour market.

Volunteers
The unit provides a range of opportunities for young people to become volunteers, including vocational and work based volunteering and the opportunity to access accredited qualifications.
