V is led by the cares, interests, passions and beliefs of young people. A government study into youth action and engagement (the Russell Commission) collected the views of over 6000 young people.
V work with organisations like DISC to build on the existing systems within the voluntary sector. V aim to extend and improve upon what already exists and ensure that wherever possible this is youth led too. V are funded using an innovative Government and private sector model, which ensures independence but also allows V to make a considerable impact within the sector.
V has three main tasks:
- To fund organisations to create new opportunities for young people
- To develop tools and infrastructure improvements, working with the voluntary sector
- Promote greater awareness and understanding of volunteering amongst young people.
- Up to £60 per week (including expenses).
- Practical work experience to go on their CV.
- Relevant accredited training.
- Recognition and celebration of their achievements.
- An extra member of staff in the form of a volunteer.
- Support of placement liaison worker.
- Access to training for your volunteer.
- Personal Development for your perspective volunteers.
