Young Mums To Be
Young Mums to Be (YMTB) is an informal course for pregnant young mums and dads to be. The course is accredited by NCFE and is equivalent to level one NVQ. Certificates can be achieved by completing the units within the YMTB training pack.
Young women pregnant for the first time are vulnerable, often single and frequently from challenging backgrounds. We offer a wide range of support, skills and education to improve lifestyles, develop citizenship skills, raise confidence and self esteem, continue education and enter the work place.
We support young parents through their pregnancy by offering:
- Access to antenatal care and advice.
- Address specific needs and concerns about sexual health & contraception.
- Health education with regard to diet, smoking, drugs, alcohol etc.
- Help with numeracy, literacy, ICT and communication.
- New friendships bringing together isolated pregnant young woman.
- Practical parenting to help take care of the child.
Young mums and dads to be aged 16–19 years old and living in Middlesbrough or Redcar.
