Drugs Interventions Programme (DIP) Sunderland
Drug Interventions Programme (DIP) Throughcare and Aftercare operates across Leeds, Sunderland, Bradford and Hartlepool, providing a range of services for drug users within the Criminal Justice System. We work in close partnership with clinical providers, Prison Service, CARATs, Police, Arrest Referral, Courts and Probation to deliver a quality and coordinated service.

Adopting a case management approach the team work intensively with individuals, using assertive outreach methods to engage and retain clients in treatment or to help individuals to maintain a drug free status and support community reintegration. Interventions can include:-
  • Harm minimisation
  • Assessment and support to access specialist prescribing
  • Home visits
  • Prison gate pick up on release
  • Support to access housing and debt advice also includes court liaison work, specific interventions for those with restriction place upon their bail and direct work with prolific offenders.
Referral Criteria:
  • Class A drug users
  • 18+
  • Involved in criminal justice system
  • Living or NFA in Leeds/Sunderland/Hartlepool
  • Referred from CARATs and Probation Service
