DISC > Drugs
DISC Drug Services provide treatment and support for adults and young people. We aim to deliver and develop high quality, innovative services that are informed by service users.
We provide client centred packages of support working with other agencies to meet identified needs. Some of the projects we run are listed to the left. All our drugs projects focus on the following themes:-
Young Peoples’ Drug Service
We deliver a multi disciplinary approach to working with under 19s using a range of interventions from prescribing and health care to information, advice and peer education. The 4 main projects involved with delivering this invaluable service is Hyped (Hartlepool), Stash (Stockton), Crest (Redcar & Cleveland) and Platform (Middlesbrough).
Working in partnership with a range of organisations and agencies we provide information and advice, education, awareness raising and support to young people and their families and carers.
Our Young Peoples' Drugs Service, provides a clinical service which includes a range of health interventions and substitute prescribing for those with problematic drug use.
Adult Treatment Services
Provide a range of structured one to one social and psychological support to adult problematic drug users on an individual and group basis delivered by multi agency teams. We know that there are differing treatment needs between adult and teen drug users, to reflect this we provide contrasting but relevant assistance. Our services include County Durham Drugs Services (Peterlee, Seaham, Durham, Chester-le-Street, Consett, Newton Aycliffe and Bishop Auckland), HOT (Hartlepool), LCDP (Leeds), Back 2 You (Hartlepool, Leeds and Sunderland), Cracking It (Hartlepool and Leeds) and the Sunderland Alcohol Service. These services do differ slightly but the goals are the same.
Drug Interventions Programme (DIP)
DIP is a Criminal Justice initiative which aims to tackle problematic, Class A drug use through interventions from drugs services via the Police, Courts, Probation Service and Prisons. The Government has made substantial investment into this initiative with the objective of reducing crime through the provision of easy to access treatment services.
DISC currently provide services to meet the needs of Throughcare and Aftercare, Court Liaison, Priority & Prolific Offenders and Drug Rehabilitation Requirement Structured Day Care Programmes across the North East which include; Drugs Intervention Project (Leeds, Hartlepool, Bradford and Sunderland), Structured Day Care – DRR (Leeds), Integrated Offender Management – IOM (Leeds), Remand On Bail (Hartlepool and Bradford) and finally Rapid Access Prescribing Service – Raps (Leeds).
