ESMI (Adult Treatment Service)
The project works within a multi agency setting involving
DISC, NECA and the
Community Substance Misuse Team CSMT. All three
agencies are based within the same premises providing a
one-stop shop to enable service users to access a range
of services at once.
As an outreach team the DISC workers are in a position
to meet people in an environment where they are
comfortable and relaxed. We work with service users who have just started
treatment on a methadone programme but whose lives
are still fairly chaotic. Our role is to help place structure
into their lives to maintain retention in treatment and to help
prepare for a life without drugs.
We work with opiate users,
stimulant users, cannabis users and any illicit substance.
As part of our program, service users can take part in
structured sporting activities which help boost confidence
and self esteem. Also, complimentary therapies which help
relaxation. Relapse prevention work is undertaken in either one to one settings or group
sessions.
