DISC > Drugs > Orbit 20
Orbit 20
The project works within a multi agency setting involving
DISC, NECA and the
Community Substance Misuse Team (CSMT). All three
agencies are based within the same office providing a
one-stop shop to enable service users to access a range
of services. This service only differs from Orbit through the service provision of a different geographical area which can be found below in the referral criteria.
As an outreach team the DISC workers are in a position
to meet people in an environment where they are
comfortable and relaxed. Our Service Level Agreement is
that we work with service users who have just started
treatment on a methadone programme but whose lives
are still fairly chaotic. Our role is to help place structure
into the programmes user life to maintain retention in treatment and to help
prepare for a life off drugs.
We work with opiate users,
stimulant users, cannabis users or any illicit substance.
As part of our program, service users can take part in
structured sporting activities which help boost confidence
and self esteem. Or partake in complimentary therapies which help
relaxation andrelapse prevention work.
Work is undertaken in either one to one settings or group
sessions.
