About DISC

Over the next year Disc will help over 12,000 people to achieve their goals and make positive changes to their lives.

In 2009, 91% of our service users rated our services as good or excellent.

DISC is one of the largest and most successful home-grown charities operating in the North of England. Our services are designed to help people make the changes that will enable them to live independent and fulfilling lives.

With over 26 years of experience, we place our service users at the heart of what we do – we are committed to service user consultation throughout the organisation at every level.

We have considerable experience in developing effective programmes, which address a range of issues and currently provide services which offer support around these key areas:-

We currently operate from over 30 bases in Northumberland, Tyne and Wear, County Durham, Tees Valley, West Yorkshire, Lancashire and Greater Manchester and continue to develop across the region.

We are committed to working with a range of organisations which has led to a number of award winning successful partnerships. These partnerships use local knowledge and secure the future of small local organisations. Our focus is to provide service users with packages of specialist support and to meet their specific needs.

Our partnership model has seen the delivery of successful programmes of support across the North of England and led to international links with programmes in Italy, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and the former Soviet States.

Over the next year we will support over 12,000 people to achieve their goals and make positive changes to their lives.

DISC works with people all across the North of England, in areas where social exclusion is prevalent. Our goal is to provide people with the tools and opportunity to overcome deprivation and to engage with their communities.
