Administrator of the Year at DISC
Debbie, business development administrator at DISC's head office in Merrington Lane polled the highest score when DISC staff in the North East, Yorkshire and Lancashire voted for her.
This autumn DISC has been highly commended for its partnership working in the Third Sector Excellence Awards, another national award scheme. Another one of DISC's projects, called 'Back To You' has won a National Training Award for providing education and training. Back To You is a behavioural change programme which enables ex-offenders recovering from substance misuse to gain the skills and confidence to look for work and training opportunities and turn their lives round.
DISC started in 1984 as a small training and job search initiative for unemployed young people and ex-offenders in Durham City. It is now one of the North East's biggest home grown voluntary organisations, with a head office here in Spennymoor, a £12m turnover and programmes across the North East, Yorkshire and Lancashire.
This year, DISC is celebrating 25 years of commitment to enabling people in crisis due to poor housing, substance misuse, family breakdown and unemployment to make changes they once imagined were impossible and transform their lives.
