DISC > Partnership Working
Almost all of DISC's work is undertaken in partnership with other agencies. This primarily takes the form of funding partnerships. DISC receives funding from a wide variety of agencies including JobCentre Plus. The Learning and Skills Council, Drugs Action Teams, DfES, Social Services, Economic Development and Housing Departments of Local Authorities, the National Probation Service and Health Trusts.
We are also partners in a number of regeneration partnerships such as the County Durham Partnership and Hartlepool NDC utilising funding mechanisms such as the Single Regeneration Budget, New Deal for Communities and Neighbourhood Renewal Fund.
In some settings we act as an 'expert' partner, providing a specialist input into programmes run by other agencies. Such is our role in Humberside and West Yorkshire where we provide Employment and Basic Skills inputs into programmes of supervision managed by the National Probation Service.
In other settings our staff form parts of multi disciplinary teams an example being some of our substance abuse services such as Orbit, ESMI and HOT where our staff work alongside secondees from the Health Service and Social Services Departments.
DISC also works in partnership with other voluntary organisations. In County Durham we are part of the One Voice Network which is a federation of voluntary organisations. DISC has developed on their behalf a Voluntary Sector Academy whose role is to improve recruitment and staff training in the voluntary sector.
