The Children, Young People and Familes Service Delivery Unit within DISC has as its main focus, support for particularly vulnerable groups in the community. The unit operates a diverse range of services at locations across the North East including the following projects:-
Domestic Violence
DISC Young Peoples Domestic Violence Support Services; provide support to Young People between the ages of 11-18years old who have been impacted by domestic abuse. Holistic support for the young person and family members can be provided and information and signposting to other services is available.
GOALS
GOALS is an established community based day care and out of hours service for people with learning disabilities. The service is user led and based on individual needs, personal aims and objectives. A range of opportunities supported by staff and trained volunteers is available and includes the opportunity to recognise personal development and accredit skills through working towards an OCR qualification.
Homesafe
Home Safe works in partnership with Local Councils to identify people who are vulnerable to crime and the fear of crime to provide them with security measures in order for them to remain safe in their own home thus enhancing their quality of life.
Volunteers
The unit provides a range of opportunities for young people to become volunteers, including vocational and work based volunteering and the opportunity to access accredited qualifications. Young Carers
Young Carers provides help and support to young carers within our 4 localities by providing; information, advocacy and advice. Supporting young carers is diverse work due to the range of illnesses, disabilities and addictions. The most important factor in our work is that young carers are unique and individual children and young people who have a right to have a childhood.
Young Mums To Be
Young women pregnant for the first time are vulnerable, often single and frequently from challenging backgrounds. We offer a wide range of support, skills and education to improve lifestyles, develop citizenship skills, raise confidence and self esteem, continue education and enter the work place.
Young Peoples' Centre
The Young Peoples’ Centre offers of a range of services listed below to offer the young people in the area a wide ranging and comprehensive facility to meet their needs in a single location. These services provide Easington with access to; OutThere, Family Link, XS, Empower-U, Sexual Health Clinics the centre also gives young people the opportunity to access the Internet, shower facilities, washing facilities and a kitchen.
