Right Step
Each programme is individually tailored to the needs and desires of the participant who will engage in work experience whilst receiving intensive support. The programme will provide an opportunity for those are not job-ready to acquire and update pre-vocational skills and increase knowledge and experience to facilitate re-entry into the labour market. Intensive support will be provided to ensure that beneficiaries engage with and are sustained on programme. Support will address issues including confidence, motivation, self esteem, social skills and anxiety around the return to work. In addition, Right Step will access beneficiaries to other DISC Services to address issues around basic skills, benefits, money management, housing & accommodation advice, substance misuse, mentoring and offending background.
Beneficiaries must be
- Aged 18+
- Living in County Durham.
- Long term unemployed or on Incapacity or other Inactive Benefits.
Priority will be given to beneficiaries who also:-
- Lack relevant up to date qualifications.
- Lack key skills.
- Have a history of short term unemployment.
- Are returnees to the labour market.
- Are part of a minority group.
Right Step is not for beneficiaries who are participating in or eligible for existing New Deal or mainstream provision although the programme is open to those who have completed a New Deal Programme.
The Client Journey
Referral to Right Step:
- Initial assessment completed - Rickter and Target.
- Develop Individual Learning Plan including tailored work placement and jobsearch programme.
- Beneficiary agrees Learning Plan.
- Beneficiary commences 13 week Individual Support/Learning programme.
- Reviews carried out on a regular basis to ensure beneficiaries are getting the development they need.
