Volunteering at The Greens is priceless
Sarah Spencer tells her own story about her volunteering experience with us.
“Over the past five years, I have given my time to volunteering with many services in the recovery community.
I got to hear about DISC and they really appealed to me. I decided that I would like to give some of my time to volunteer with The Greens, Sheffield Recovery Focussed Accommodation.
My experience as a volunteer with this project is a very happy and positive chapter for me.
I am passionate around recovery. In my volunteer role, I co-facilitate groups.
We have recently set up a women’s group ‘Power to Change’ which enables women to chat openly in a safe space.
I am able to learn so much about the residents’ goals and aspirations, and seeing the physical change on their recovery journey is so rewarding.
The Greens staff are very experienced. They offered a full comprehensive training package and a one to one supervision every month.
I feel listened to and appreciated.
This is paramount for volunteers and it enables me to have confidence and grow.
As a volunteer at The Greens, I am finding my experience here priceless!
