The Stronger Families Programme supports people across Leeds and Bradford who are facing challenges in being able to develop their skills, move towards the world of work and secure employment. Taking part in the programme is entirely voluntary and is available to anyone who meets the eligibility criteria.
The Stronger Families programme is funded by Building Better Opportunities – The Big Lottery Fund and European Social Fund.
DISC are one of the delivery partners of the programme and manage three keyworkers who support families in East Leeds.
To be eligible for the programme participants need to be:
– 18+ with at least one dependent child living in the same household
– Have a right to work in the UK
– Be economically inactive
– Be unemployed
While the programme aims to support people into employment and education, we recognise that families may need support around lots of different areas such as family routine, finances and parenting before they feel ready to enter employment or education.
Each participant will receive a personalised support plan to meet their and their family’s needs.
There is specialist support attached to the programme including supporting health and well-being, accessing debt and financial advice and building employability skills.
DISC will support 48 participants in the first year of the programme.
